Position location: Greater Fort Wayne, IN and Pittsburgh, PA

Act as Mid-Senior level Field Service Technician (FST), required to interact with customers, other FSTs, engineering, fabrication and installation team members on an as needed basis.  It will also be a position that combines both field and office tasks. This component will ensure that both existing and new customers will receive the proper support needed to assess and maintain their Air Pollution Control (APC) system/s on a routine basis as required by both regulatory and production demands.

Our Field Service Technician will often occupy the role of first person contact on a routine basis. This direct interaction is a key component in developing a business allegiance. The FST present will identify improvement projects, expansion projects and continued service relationship for our technical services offered.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Commitment to working within the Schust Safety Management System following all applicable company safety policies, written rules, and training.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting, installation, maintenance and repair on designated equipment and APC systems.
  • Complete preventative maintenance and field modifications required within scope of work.
  • Order and manage replacement parts required to repair and improve the operation of the APC equipment function.
  • Maintain administrative responsibilities such as customer service logs and internal schedules.
  • Maintain efficient and timely processing of reports, documents, and billing to customers.
  • Continuously update service records in a timely manner to insure proper completion and follow up as required.
  • Maintain routine communication with customers to ensure resolution, proper follow-up, and action item closure.
  • Maintain tools and test equipment ensuring proper calibration and effective working condition.
  • Identify and respond to sales opportunities such as new contracts, contract renewals, and system sales as necessary.
  • Work as a member of the national team to provide efficient service delivery to all accounts within assigned area.
  • Must participate in the company drug and alcohol screening program including pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and random testing.

Marginal Functions

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
  • Ability to work independently, or as part of a team, to meet customer and contract requirements.

Education and/or Experience

  • BS degree in Engineering or relevant trade licensing, certificates, industrial accreditations and experience within the APC industry.
  • Working experience as a project manager, installer, field engineer in ventilation and material transfer industries.
  • Knowledge of design and visualizations software such as AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards in industrial construction and air emissions industry.
  • Project management and supervision experience and/or training

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general project scope of work and follow general direction of supervision.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the customers and possess good customer service skills. (Ex. enthusiastic, passionate, patient and should be a critical thinker.)
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with supervisor, and other members of the department.

Mathematical Skills

  • Must have basic math skills and the ability to read measurements pertaining to general project work.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

  • Ability to wear a respirator as required by work following all applicable safety policies and regulations.
  • Ability to trouble shoot technical issues through the non-technical description provided by customers.
  • Possess and continually develop good logical skills and ability to prioritize tasks, such as urgency, and/or site safety conditions that require prompt attention.
  • Knowledge of design and visualizations software such as AutoCAD
  • Advanced MS Office skills, Excel, Word, Project, etc.

 Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license to operate company owned vehicles.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to walk, stand, and kneel for long periods of time and periodically climb ladders.
  • Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry a minimum of 50 pounds consistently as required by job tasks.
  • Must be able to complete a Physical Ability Test as part of pre-employment screening process.

Travel

  • Incumbent must have the ability to travel from 1 day to 5+ days with ability to drive and/or fly to various locations across the United States, primarily Eastern and Central US.
